Darius is a young man who is not terribly well suited to his profession. Growing up in District 2, though, you have three choices: work in the weapons factories, become a stone-cutter, or go into the Peacekeepers.

He chose the latter.

Not because he has any particular love for the Capitol or because he really wanted a chance to see the other districts—though that was a bit of a perk—and certainly not because he likes being a bully and ordering people around or carrying a weapon. No, Darius became a Peacekeeper for one specific reason. He doesn’t want to see a child of his raised to think that being a tribute in the Hunger Games is the highest honor one can hope to achieve, and being a Peacekeeper gives him a good reason not to marry or have children until he can claim to be too old for either.

Darius is in his early twenties, tall, red-haired, and with a smile that makes him look much younger than he actually is. He’s laidback, friendly, flirtatious, and he tries not to take life too seriously, but he does have a strong sense of justice and compassion that are often at odds with his role as a Peacekeeper. Being assigned to District 12 was pretty much the best thing that could have happened to him. At least here, he doesn’t get into trouble for being too easy on the populace.

Also? His kisses are worth at least two rabbits. He has references.
